What are the Stainless Steel E310Cb Welding Electrodes?

The most common Stainless Steel E310Cb Welding Electrodes have the same composition as type 304 but have an extra ten percent columbium content to prevent intergranular corrosion. It is used to weld stainless clad steels, low-alloy steels, and even carbon steels. These electrodes are fully austenitic and must be used with low heat input, a stringer bead technique, and a high-quality welder to avoid corrosion.

Austenitic stainless steels contain more than 15% CR. These Stainless Steel E310Cb Welding Electrodes are susceptible to micro-fissures during welding, but they can be prevented by low heat input processes, such as shielded metal arc welding. Also, stainless steel electrodes must deposit low levels of melting constituents and impurities. These electrodes are commonly used to join stainless steels in chloride environments, such as offshore oil rigs. In addition, they can be used on terrarium 255 and stainless steels of different compositions such as type 317.

This stainless steel electrode is ideal for welding titanium and niobium. Its core wire is made of high purity, yielding a very low carbon content. The content of silicon is carefully controlled, thereby optimizing corrosion resistance. Stringer beads are preferred over the weaving technique. This electrode offers high corrosion resistance and is a good choice for high-temperature service. Welding applications involving titanium, nickel, or chromium steels will also benefit from E310Cb.
